Simple Sliders Sandwich Recipe

Sliders are small sandwiches that are perfect for feeding a crowd on game night or during holiday get togethers. Sliders typically have meat, cheese, and a buttery sauce.

This slider recipe was shared with me by a church friend. Again, you really need to check out your local church for their potluck nights. Go for the food and good, imperfect people. Stay for a loving, unchanging God!

Best Rolls for Slider Sandwiches

My friend and I tweaked the slider recipe a couple times. But we both decided that we like the slider recipe best minus the Hawaiian rolls. So unlike a lot of slider recipes, we forwent the sweet Hawaiian rolls. The Hawaiian rolls seem to overwhelm and distract from the yummy tangy, sweet sauce.

For the Oven Roast Beef Sliders, I use slider rolls. Kroger has a nice slider roll pack that comes 12 rolls to a pack. And Pepperidge Farms also makes slider rolls. Slider rolls are perfect since they are already pre-cut, so you don’t have to try to cut the rolls. And the slider rolls are the perfect size for small sandwiches, about the size of a dinner roll.

And of course, since we are beef farmers, I decided to use roast beef on my sliders. I love the taste of the roast beef married with provolone cheese. You can also make some slider sandwiches with ham, if you wish. I prefer the roast beef, but my family likes a mix.

Thinly sliced deli roast beef that comes in a package works well. You can purchase roast beef straight from the deli, but the packaged deli roast beef works just fine for the roast beef sliders.

Delicious roast beef slider sandwiches perfect for holiday parties of game night snacks.

Provolone cheese adds a nice flavor to the roast beef and is gooey without being quite as stringy as mozzarella cheese. I buy the provolone slices which you can find at Aldi or Kroger. And then I half a slice and use half a slice per sandwich.

How to Make Slider Sandwiches in Oven

Oven Roast Beef Sliders are made in the oven so you can easily double this recipe for game night snacks or for your holiday party. Once the sandwiches are put together, the magic happens in the oven!

You assemble the sandwiches in a casserole dish. After pouring the tangy sauce on top, you place the casserole dish in the oven to cook.

The cheese will melt on your sliders in the oven. The tops of the slider will become crisp on top and the bottoms of the sandwich caramelize in the buttery sauce.

And if you want to keep them warm, for your party, simply turn off the oven, cover the sliders with foil, and return to warmed oven.

Steps to Making Roast Beef Sliders

For your slider sandwiches, first lay all your slider roll bottoms in a casserole dish. The casserole dish will keep the sandwiches assembled nicely while in the oven, and you need a dish to hold the sauce you will pour over the sliders.

Add your deli sliced roast beef. Use at least one slice per roll. You may add more deli roast beef if you wish.

Next, add provolone cheese to each sandwich. I typically use a half a slice of provolone cheese.

Lightly spread mayonnaise on the top of each slider roll. Then place the bun top on each sandwich.

Melt butter in a pourable, microwavable cup. Add brown sugar, Worcestershire, and spicy mustard. Mix together.

Pour butter sauce over the assembled slider sandwiches. You can use all of the sweet and tangy sauce or just a portion. Make sure to pour sauce on top of the rolls, so tops will be buttery and cook up golden brown. And then you want some sauce in bottom of pan so that the sandwich bottoms become caramelized.

I tend to use about 3/4 of the sauce. So if I want to make a few more sandwiches, I will still have some sauce left.

Place sandwiches in oven to cook for 15-20 minutes. Sandwiches are done when tops are crisp and brown. And the cheese is totally melted.
