Freezer Beef Inventory Checklist Printable

At Hickory Hollow Farm, we really appreciate our customers. And as I was thinking one day, as I often do, “What would my customers love next…other than more beef?,” this printable came to mind. Many of ya’ll have mentioned wishing you had a checklist so you could keep track of what you have in your deep freezer. So I decided to create a Freezer Beef Inventory Checklist Printable! With your checklist, you will never let any meat go bad from freezer burn. And you will have a better idea of what you would like to try next!

How a Freezer Inventory Printable Saves Money

I’ve learned that keeping a detailed freezer inventory holds immense importance. It saves time when deciding what to cook. With every item accounted for, I reduce waste significantly, and knowing exactly what’s available prevents letting any meat from going to waste.

The meticulous tracking aids in meal budgeting, as I can plan purchases around what’s already in my freezer stock. To streamline this process, I’ve created a freezer beef inventory checklist. This printable tool ensures I efficiently manage my local premium freezer beef and other grocery bargains I may have found.

Key Takeaways:

  • A detailed freezer inventory maximizes time efficiency and reduces waste.
  • Tracking helps in meal budgeting by highlighting existing stock.
  • The freezer beef inventory checklist is pivotal for managing beef supplies.

How to Use Your Freezer Inventory Checklist

Print Off Your Printable. In the graphic above, simply add your first name and email. You will instantly receive an email with a downloadable link so you can download your graphic and print. If you are already one of our Farmtastic HHF Followers, then you will just receive the one email. Print off as many copies as you need.

If you are new around here, then you will receive a couple follow up emails with recipe ideas and a few other printables you will love!

Clean Out the Freezer. Ideally, before you bring your beef home from the processor, do a clean out of what is already in your freezer. Throw away those little bits of frozen leftovers that you are never going to eat. And anything that is past date be sure to toss.

Any beef that is vacuum sealed and over a year, is typically still safe to eat. It may taste a little bit stronger or have freezer burn. But beef that is bought locally and was vacuum sealed, rarely goes bad. Any meat, when thawed, that has a strange odor or color is what you need to be aware of and not consume.

Reorganize the Freezer. Any meat that has been in the freezer for several months, move to one section. That way you will know what to eat next. Write down on your Freezer Inventory Checklist what you currently have in stock.

Next, Inventory New Beef. When you pick-up your beef from the processor, have your Freezer Inventory Checklist printed and ready to go. As you stock your freezer, place a forward slash through the box for each item you have.

The checklist has categories such as steaks, roasts, and ground beef so you can easily see what you have. And then when you need a recipe, just check out Hickory Hollow Farm Beef website blog for lots of recipe ideas!

Mark Off Beef as You Use. Lastly, with a magnet, attach your freezer checklist to the side of the freezer. Whenever you pull out beef from your freezer, make an X through one box to show that you have used that cut of beef.

Tips to Keep In Mind When Stocking Your Freezer

There are a couple things that new local beef customers ask about after receiving their first quarter.

  • Ground Beef Goes by Weight – Ground beef is typically packed in 1 lb tubes. But that is just an approximate weight. If you received 50 lbs of ground beef, you may only receive 45 tubes of ground beef as each tube weights more than 1 lb exactly.
  • Save Your Big Roasts – A 5 lb roast is a lot of beef. Save those for when you are having company coming or you want lots of leftovers. As you inventory your beef, you may want to star your big roasts (3 1/2 lbs and up) or brisket so you know what you have for when company comes.
  • Thickness Matters – Steaks can be varied by thickness. You may receive slightly fewer steaks from one order to another. It depends on the size of the cow and it also depends on the thickness of your steak.

Hope you enjoy your Freezer Beef Inventory Checklist!
